29 Must-visit Beaches in Bali to add to Your Bucket List

Bali is a beach lover's paradise. From pebbly shores to perfect white sand, from cliffside beaches to volcanic black sands, Bali’s extensive coastline has something for everyone to discover their slice of heaven. Whether you’re looking for a lively spot to people-watch or a serene retreat to unwind, there’s a beach in Bali that fits your vibe.

Covering every inch of the island—from north to south, east to west—here's a list of the best beaches in Bali. Get ready, because we're about to explore the island!

Let’s kick things off with my top five favourites—these are the best of the best.

Seminyak Beach – The All-Day Beach Goer’s Paradise

Pantai seminyak tempat yang cocok untuk bersantai

Whenever my family visits Bali, one of their favourite activities is lounging on the beach from morning till sunset. They rent sunbeds during the day, soak up the sun, grab cold drinks from the beach bar, and watch people stroll by, ending their tropical day with a magical sunset kiss.

Seminyak Beach is one of the top spots for all-day beach sessions. With rental daybeds, beach bars, surf schools, and food vendors, there’s something for every kind of beachgoer. Take a surf lesson while your loved ones laugh in the sand, enjoy a massage from friendly local women selling handmade bracelets and colourful sarongs, sip on a cold beer from the sandy bar, or stroll down nearby streets to find snacks and restaurants. If you’re not up for wandering, Seminyak Beach is packed with activities.

Home to several beach clubs, resorts, and restaurants, Seminyak Beach isn’t just great for a day out; it’s also a perfect spot for a holiday. It truly is one of Bali’s best beaches.

Jimbaran Beach – The Best Seafood with a Sunset View

Sunset dan Seafood di Jimbaran Bay di Bali

Just under 20 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, Jimbaran Bay is a beachfront area lined with luxury resorts and upscale restaurants, leading to the rocky cliffs of Uluwatu. With some of the softest white sand on the island, this peaceful beach is a great place to relax and enjoy tranquillity. Things pick up in the evening when crowds flock for the famous seafood dinners right on the sand.

With around ten seafood restaurants right on the beach, each offers fresh seafood dinners where you can choose your fish, sauce, and sides while enjoying the stunning sunset. Soaking in the sand and drooling over incredibly fresh flavors, these beachfront spots attract both locals and tourists. It’s definitely one of the best things to do in Jimbaran.

After a relaxing day in the sun, you can cap off your evening in tropical paradise with a big seafood feast. It’s truly one of the best beaches in Bali.

Nusa Dua Beach – The Perfect Beach for the Whole Family

Pantai Sempurna di Bali untuk Keluarga

Nusa Dua Beach is known as one of the safest and best family beaches in Bali. Thanks to the shallow tides and gentle currents, the sea is great for swimming and playing with kids. This family-friendly beach boasts beautiful white sand, clear waters, and is home to some of the best water sports on the island.

With banana boats, inflatable donuts, parasailing, jet skiing, glass-bottom boat rides, and scuba diving trips, there’s no chance of the kids getting bored. You can surf for family fun before heading back to the sand to relax on sun loungers and soak up the sun.

Nusa Dua Beach is lined with restaurants and is just a short walk from shopping centers, perfect for when the sun gets too hot for little ones and you need some AC to cool off.

Clean, tropical, and popular, Nusa Dua Beach is the perfect spot to create unforgettable memories with your loved ones—memories that your kids will cherish forever. It’s truly one of the best beaches in Bali.

Bingin Beach – The Paradise Beach

Pantai Bingin Di Pecatu

After descending 188 shallow, steep, and jutting stairs down to the beach, you might wonder if the pristine white sand and turquoise waters are worth the trek. But once you reach the last step, your toes touch the soft sand, and your eyes land on the perfect ocean, every aching muscle is forgotten. This is paradise.

Bingin Beach epitomises the perfection of a tropical island—can you guess my favourite beach in Bali? For experienced surfers, Bingin is a popular surf spot with short, intense waves that can challenge even the pros. If you didn’t bring your gear, the beach has plenty of rentals offering boards in various sizes.

If you're like me, who loves to sunbathe, eat and hang out, Bingin is also one of the coolest beaches in Bali. You can chill on the sand, sit in one of the beachfront restaurants and swim in the coral-filled waters to cool off. It's just perfect! This beach is a must for every traveller.

Batu Bolong Beach – Canggu's Favorite

Suasana sunset di pantai Batu Bolong

Considered one of the most popular beaches in Canggu, Batu Bolong Beach sits at the end of the main road leading to tourist hotspots in the area. Overlooking Old Man’s Bar and The Lawn, this beach is a chill spot with beanbags, sun loungers for rent, surf schools, and bars.

Batu Bolong is my go-to beach for hanging out with friends and letting my dog run in the ocean. Perched on comfy beanbags, it’s the perfect spot to sunbathe and enjoy a stunning tropical sunset.

Surfers face big waves in the morning, sunbathers soak up the afternoon heat, and after sunset, the beach transforms into a party under the sun and moonlight, with crowds dancing on the sand and splashing in the waves.

If you’re looking for a place to surf, relax, socialise, and party, Batu Bolong Beach is the spot! If your trip to Bali is short and you want to hit up must-see places, these five beaches should top your list.

For the long-term travellers and adventurers out there, here are a few more Bali beaches you absolutely can’t miss. They’re definitely among the best in Bali.

Thomas Beach – The Quietest Beach in Bali

Pantai Thomas di Uluwatu

Less known than its neighbour Uluwatu, Thomas Beach is the perfect blend of a tranquil, secluded beach with beautiful white sand and the famous turquoise waters of southern Bali.

This peaceful, hidden beach is ideal for honeymooners and those looking to unwind, with sun loungers just steps away from the sea. Soak up the morning sun and cool off in the crystal-clear waters. Just a short walk from restaurants and cafes, you can spend your day enjoying the tropical weather before indulging in hot, fresh meals.

Sanur Beach – The Best Beach for Relaxation

Pantai Sanur Terbaik untuk Bersantai

Sanur Beach features a perfect stretch of 5 kilometres of white sand protected by a wide walking path. A favourite for biking and sunrises, Sanur is a calm and peaceful beach where you can stroll, unwind, and take in the scenery.

You can rent bikes from your accommodation and explore the beachfront with your loved ones. It’s an easy, flat ride that even kids can enjoy. Lined with restaurants, resorts, and private villas, the beach is a hub of activity.

For a day of relaxation on the sand or just staring at the sea with a cold beer in hand, Sanur Beach is one of the best beaches in Bali.

Melasti Beach – The Best White Sand Beach in Bali

Pantai Melasti adalah Pantai Pasir Putih Terbaik di Bali

Melasti Beach, located on the southern tip of Bali, is a classic spot with bright white sand and stunning blue waters. By the way, there are many twists and turns leading down the limestone cliffs to the beach, providing perfect photo ops for those tropical shots.

Melasti is a must-visit beach in Bali and is easily accessible, offering some sun loungers for rent and a beach bar where you can relax and enjoy cold drinks. For a chill day with friends soaking up the island's warmth, it’s definitely one of the best beaches in Bali.

Keramas Beach – Beautiful Black Sand Beach

Pantai Keramas memiliki pasir hitam yang indah

Far from the crowds of the Bali south, Keramas Beach doesn't top tourist lists, making it a peaceful and relatively quiet spot. Known among surfers for its fast, strong waves, this beach is favoured by more experienced surfers and adventure seekers.

With its iconic black sand and powerful waters, this isn’t the ideal spot for a family beach day. The famous Komune Beach Club is located right next to the black sands, featuring a bright blue infinity pool that contrasts beautifully with the dark surroundings. There’s also camping right on the beach! Falling asleep under the stars with the ocean rocking you to sleep is pure perfection.

Double Six Beach – The Best Sunset Cocktail Beach

La Plancha pilihan bersantai di pinggir pantai

Double Six ranks as the sixth most popular beach in Bali. It’s perfect for lounging in the sun all day while enjoying some people-watching. The sunbeds are reasonably priced and come with umbrellas to prevent you from turning into a lobster.

However, it’s at night that Double Six truly comes alive. Lined with beachfront bars— including the famous La Plancha— this is the go-to spot in Seminyak for drinks and enjoying sunsets with your friends. Packed with beanbags, it’s the ultimate lazy sunset experience at the beach, making it one of the best beaches in Bali.

Mushroom Bay Beach – The Heavenly Beach

Mushroom Bay di Lembongan

Let’s step off Bali’s main island for a moment and head to Nusa Lembongan, where you’ll find even more beautiful beaches. Mushroom Bay Beach is perhaps the most popular beach on Lembongan—and it deserves to be! With its gorgeous tropical scenery, white sand, and crystal-clear water, it’s perfect for chill days in the sand with your loved ones.

Just a short walk from convenience stores and beachfront bars, you can relax, snack, and sip while enjoying the incredible island paradise vibes. Mushroom Bay Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali.

Diamond Beach - The Hidden Gem of Nusa Penida

Tour Kombinasi Nusa Penida

Before heading back to Bali Island, let’s take a quick detour to Nusa Penida, specifically to Diamond Beach, one of the most spectacular beaches on the eastern side of Nusa Penida.

Named after the diamond-shaped rock formations scattered along the shore, Diamond Beach is a pristine cliffside paradise. It's one of my absolute favourite beaches in Bali—actually, it might just be one of my favourites in the world.

Only accessible since late 2018 when a path was carved into the cliffs, it now offers breathtaking views and a tranquil atmosphere. Before the path was made, you could only admire this stunning beach from above. But now, thanks to the carved steps, you can experience this gem up close.

You can visit this beach by joining the Nusa Penida Tour.

Echo Beach - Canggu’s Surfing Hotspot

Pantai Selancar Terbaik di Canggu

Located in the laid-back area of Canggu, Echo Beach is a go-to spot for early morning strolls with your dog, beach clubs, and, of course, surfing. It's one of those places where locals and expats cross paths daily, making it a great spot to catch up with friends or simply take in the surf culture.

With some cool beachside bars and clubs like La Brisa, you can easily spend the day here chilling, eating, or hitting the waves.

Echo Beach is known for its strong surf, making it perfect for both beginners and seasoned surfers alike.

Amed Beach - Snorkeller’s Paradise

Pantai Amed di Karangasem

On Bali’s eastern tip, Amed is a peaceful escape often visited by snorkelers, divers, and hikers. The black volcanic sands, stunning mountain views, and local ancient ruins give Amed a laid-back charm that's hard to beat.

If you're new to snorkelling, this area is ideal, and local businesses offer boat and diving trips that allow you to explore the beautiful underwater world. It’s unlike any beach you’ve seen, with its darker waters and black sands surrounded by lush landscapes.

Amed is the perfect place for a quiet getaway and some underwater exploration.

Medewi Beach - A Quiet, Untouched Escape

Pantai Medewi adalah Pantai Terpencil

If you’re searching for a more traditional, untouched part of Bali, Medewi Beach is a hidden treasure. It offers a glimpse of Bali before the surge of tourists, with small villages, rice paddies, and wide sandy beaches.

Located about two hours from Canggu, Medewi is a surfer’s dream with barely anyone else on the waves. The sunsets here are magical, and the views are spectacular, especially as the sun dips below the horizon.

It’s a peaceful retreat, perfect for anyone looking to unwind away from the crowds.

Balangan Beach - Stunning Cliff Views

Pantai Balangan Di Bali

Balangan Beach, found in the Jimbaran area, is known for its surfing, particularly the clean Uluwatu waves. The beach has long stretches of white sand, clear blue waters, and minimal crowds.

Balangan View Point, perched on the cliffs, offers incredible panoramic views of the beach below and is a must-visit before heading down to the shore.

With beachside cafés and restaurants lining the shore, it’s the ideal spot to spend a relaxing day by the sea.

Blue Lagoon Beach - A Hidden Eden

Nestled in a rocky cove, Blue Lagoon Beach is a serene and hidden paradise. The clear waters and bright white sand make it a favourite for snorkelers and those seeking a peaceful day by the beach.

It's a quiet, almost private spot, perfect for couples or anyone looking for a bit of romance. You can rent snorkel gear, enjoy a cold drink, and relax in the tropical breeze with stunning views of the ocean.

It’s a dreamy beach and one of Bali’s best-kept secrets.

Padang Padang Beach - Uluwatu’s Surfing Mecca

Wisata Pantai Padang Padang Bali

Padang Padang Beach is one of Uluwatu’s most famous beaches, partly due to its appearance in Eat, Pray, Love.

But beyond the Hollywood fame, it's a surfer's paradise. With challenging waves best suited for experienced surfers, it’s not for the faint-hearted. The rocky coastline, lined with cliffs and hidden nooks, makes it easy to find a quiet spot to relax.

You’ll find local food vendors nearby, so you can grab a snack and enjoy the sun all day long.

Pemuteran Beach - West Bali’s Snorkeling Haven

Pemuteran Beach is tucked away in Bali’s far northwest, offering a quieter, more laid-back vibe. It’s ideal for snorkelers and divers, with easy access to some of the best underwater spots in Bali.

Just a short boat ride away is Menjangan Island, home to some of the island’s most impressive coral reefs and dive sites. Protected by Bali’s West National Park, the island’s coral ecosystem thrives, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in marine life.

The beach itself is relatively quiet, with only a handful of locals around. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape from Bali’s busier shores, Pemuteran is perfect.

Berawa Beach – The Perfect Spot to Unwind

Pantai Berawa adalah Pantai yang Ideal untuk Bersantai

Berawa is a vibrant area full of restaurants, cafes, and shops, with the beach serving as home to the famous Finns Beach Club and several local beach bars. This beach is a favourite for surfers and those looking to relax.

You'll often find a crowd chilling at their go-to bars, likely accompanied by their adorable Bali dogs. It’s the perfect spot for a laid-back sunset drink with cool tunes playing in the background, making Berawa one of the top beaches in Bali.

Whether you're dining at the beachfront or bringing your own snacks to enjoy the sunset from the sand, Berawa is an ideal beach for kicking back and enjoying life with your loved ones.

Balian Beach – A Rising Star

On Bali’s western coast, Balian Beach is gaining popularity among expats after years of being a surfing favourite. This black-sand beach has new cafes and restaurants popping up to cater to its growing crowd.

Surrounded by dunes and cliffs, Balian feels private and remote. A little over an hour’s drive from Canggu, it’s a great place for a relaxing stroll with friends.

Dreamland Beach – The Ultimate Sunbather’s Paradise

True to its name, Dreamland Beach is like a dream.

With soft white sands and crystal-clear blue waters, you can bask in the beauty of the cliffs surrounding Uluwatu. The beach offers cosy sun loungers and is the perfect spot to spend a long day in the sun, people-watching and soaking in the scenery.

Dreamland is undoubtedly one of Bali’s finest beaches.

Suluban Beach – Bali’s Secret Beach

Pantai Suluban adalah Pantai Tersembunyi di Bali

Tucked beneath Uluwatu's towering cliffs, Suluban Beach is a timing-sensitive gem to explore—at high tide, there’s no beach at all.

You'll climb down a series of stairs through fantastic caves to discover a beautiful white-sand beach with some of the clearest waters on the island. It's also one of the best beaches in Bali for surfing and tropical swims during low tide.

Perfect for a romantic day or a scenic photoshoot, Suluban is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.

Kuta Beach – Perfect for a Lazy Day in the Sun

Pantai Kuta adalah Pantai Hebat untuk Bermalas-malasan di Matahari

Kuta Beach, once Bali’s main attraction, has become a quieter spot these days, making it a hidden gem for those seeking some old-school Bali charm.

Spanning 2.5 kilometres of white sand and surf, it’s a peaceful escape from the traffic noise, thanks to its protective sand wall. Rent a sunbed, relax, and let the world pass by.

Just a short stroll from Beachwalk Shopping Center, Kuta also offers beachside bars serving cold drinks and a fantastic sunset view. It’s a classic Bali beach experience you shouldn’t miss.

Pandawa Beach – A Bustling Beach with Great Vibes

If you love a lively beach atmosphere, Pandawa Beach is the place to be. Neatly lined sun loungers with umbrellas and local beach bars serving cold drinks make this beach a crowd favourite.

Located in the Bukit Peninsula, Pandawa is hidden behind towering cliffs, offering turquoise waters and clean sands, perfect for a full day of tropical relaxation.

Virgin Beach – A Secluded Paradise

With white sand, stunning blue waters, few visitors, and quaint little beachfront stalls, Virgin Beach (also known as White Sand Beach) truly has it all.

If you’re searching for a secluded beach paradise, this is it! Located in the quiet coastal town of Karangasem, it’s off the radar for many tourists but absolutely worth the trip.

Whether you’re into swimming, snorkelling, or simply relaxing with a beachfront massage, Virgin Beach offers a tranquil escape from the crowds.

Karma Beach – Luxurious Sandy Escape

Pantai Karma Bersantai di Sandy Luxury

Karma Beach, part of the luxurious Karma Kandara Resort in Ungasan, Uluwatu, is a stunning private beach. With pristine white sands and clear waters, it’s the epitome of a tropical beach escape.

The beach features private cabanas, soothing bean bags, and comfy loungers, making it an ideal spot for a lavish beach day.

Order a cold drink and some delicious snacks from the beach club, and you’re set for a perfect day of relaxation in paradise.

Lovina Beach – Dolphin Watching in the North

Pantai Melihat Lumba-lumba

Known for its breathtaking black sand, Lovina Beach in North Bali is the place to go if you’re looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful beach day.

This beach is also a hotspot for dolphin watching. Rise early, hop on a local fisherman’s boat, and witness wild dolphins leaping out of the water as the sun rises—an unforgettable experience.

Located hours away from the busy southern tourist spots, Lovina offers a serene retreat to enjoy with loved ones.

Nyang Nyang Beach – Instagram-Worthy Paradise

Pantai Nyang Nyang adalah Instagram Perfect Beach
