The Attraction of Atuh Beach Nusa Penida
Just from the top of the stairs, the beach shows its charm, but what if you saw it directly? Atuh Beach has its own attractions, namely
Beautiful Beach Arch
The arch can be said to be very beautiful because it stretches the entire length of the rock in the water. The cliffs are quite steep and large, with a white sandy beach that can be described as an amphitheatre.
In fact, this great beauty can be seen when you are at the bottom of the cliff. The whole view will feel amazing when you see it.
Extreme Road Terrain
You could say it is quite dangerous because you have to climb down the stairs. The time required is only 15 minutes, but it is quite steep for the terrain.
You will never forget this climb, as it is a struggle to get to this beautiful white sandy beach. When you climb back up, you will feel that the journey was quite hard and even the trees will hide the beauty of the beach.
However, with a small window that provides a break in the leaves, you will be able to see the beauty of Atuh Beach.
Food Vendors
There are several food vendors on this beautiful white sandy beach. Some of the favourites that can be recommended to visitors are coconut, fried rice, snacks and beer. The price is not too expensive and can be easily obtained.
Access to Atuh beach, Nusa Penida
Locals built a concrete staircase down to the beach in 2016. It's not very pretty, but it's more practical. Now there are 166 steps. The way down is quite easy.
The way up is a bit more tiring, especially as some of the steps are very high. The stairs on the left side of the beach are slightly shorter, so you can reach the beach from above in less than twenty minutes.
However, if you want to see Diamond Beach, you will have to walk across the beach as Atuh Beach is not far from Diamond Beach.
What can you do at Atuh Beach Nusa Penida?
Although this beach is in an area that is difficult to access, there are several stalls selling food and drink. Each kiosk also provides tables and chairs for any visitors who stop by.
Umbrellas and sunbeds are available on the beach. There are also small stalls selling fruit juice, grilled fish and Indonesian specialities. As everywhere on Nusa Penida, be aware of the waves and currents when swimming.
Atuh Beach is not yet part of the daily tours sold to tourists. Therefore, it is still very pleasant to spend a day there in good weather. Especially if the tide is not too low, as the sand leaves room for small stones to get into the water.
There are also those who spend their time sunbathing and snorkelling, while we? We decided to just sit, play in the sand and run around the beach.
When to Visit Atuh Beach Nusa Penida
When visiting Atuh beach, you need to know the ideal time, namely when the sea water is low. When the sea recedes, you will see white sand and rocks and the beach is very clear.
However, when the sea is at high tide, it is an extraordinary show with the crashing waves and seawater that is truly amazing.
Apart from that, it is very nice to wait for the sunrise at Atuh beach because it can penetrate an arch and for long exposure photographers this moment is ideal. From the top of the climb you will be able to experience an amazing sunrise.
Location of Atuh Beach Nusa Penida
Knowing its attractions, you will definitely want to visit it, right? So before you do, get to know the location of this beach while you are on holiday in Bali. The location itself is in the tourist area of Nusa Penida, which is located in the southeast of the island of Bali.
The area where Atuh Beach is located is Pejukutan Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency, which can be easily found on Google Maps. In fact, it is very close to Diamond Beach, Angel Billabong, Molenteng Tree House and others.
How to Reach Atuh Beach Nusa Penida
In fact, the mainland of Nusa Penida is separate from the island of Bali, so to get there you need to travel by sea. Currently, there are many ports that provide services for crossings from Bali to Nusa Penida, starting from Sanur, Padang Bai or Kusamba beaches.
If you are in the south of Bali, you can take a speedboat from Sanur beach. After arriving at Toya Pakeh harbour, you can travel 28 kilometres.
When you arrive in Nusa Penida, you can just use a motorbike or look for a tour service if you want convenience and comfort when visiting Atuh Beach, considering that the road there is quite extreme.
Using a motorbike is the best way because you can visit every beach with a cheap rental price. For motorbikes the rental price is Rp. 75,000 per day. You can also easily find motorbike rental services at Toya Pakeh Harbour.
If you want to explore Nusa Penida in comfort and safety, my main recommendation is Wisata Bali Penida. Prices start from IDR 300,000 all inclusive for a full day tour with Nusa Penida Tour (up to 10-12 hours).
